Trinity Services’ Autism and Family Resource Center is revving up for Autism Awareness
Month with special events and increased legislative advocacy!
March is an exciting time for Trinity Services as we rev up for Autism Awareness Month and work diligently to protect autism services for families in Illinois. This past month, several of us traveled to Springfield to meet with our TAP partners and advocate for autism service. Our team included Kelly Vinquist, Ashley Barnish, Sherry Ladislas, and Loretta Durbin. During our visit, we met with legislators to discuss the impact of TAP services in the community, TAP’s 10th anniversary, and to extend invitations for visits to Trinity’s Autism Program and School.
Every year, Trinity leadership staff meet at beautiful Starved Rock State Park for a leadership retreat. These retreats focus on teaching key leadership skills, participation in team building activities and provide a chance to learn from our fellow Trinity leaders. Over 150 staff attended retreat and stayed at Starved Rock Lodge for two days and one evening. This year, the theme was “How do we want to be together?” and included topics such as difficult conversations, being a better listener, communication breakdown, and saving face. Trinity staff conducted several role plays that exemplified important communication “tools” that can be used during difficult situations.
Rev It Up! Road Rally –
You’re invited to attend our new event to help raise funds for Trinity’s Autism Program and School ~Saturday, April 13, 2013~

Road Rally, a challenging game on wheels in which teams (up to six per vehicle) work together to solve puzzles, answer questions and uncover clues that direct them to various “Pit Stops.” The adventure will conclude at a post-Rally celebration where teams will gather for a casual dinner, drinks (cash bar) and raffles, and to see which team earns first-year bragging rights and the Rev It Up! Trophy.
Since April is Autism Awareness Month, funds raised for this inaugural event will go toward building a playground at Trinity’s Autism Center and School in New Lenox.
Entry fee is $25 per person (minimum for people per vehicle, maximum six per vehicle) Entry fee includes admission to the post-Rally party. If you have other friends or family who want to attend just the post-Rally celebration, tickets are $20 per person.
