The first 3 years of life are critical in setting the future developmental stage for a child. Unfortunately, many children on the ASD spectrum are not identified until after the age of 3, despite parental concerns about the development of their child. We can support parents by encouraging them to get a developmental screening for their child (by their doctor, or clinic), and referring parents to the Early Intervention(EI) program in Illinois.
